Students of the Month

Students of the MonthWe’re starting off this year with congratulations to two lovely and loyal students, Shakiba and Shiva Lotfi. These beautiful and well known faces at Body Harmony have been bringing light to our space for a number of years!  Shiva says, “Over the past 4 years, Body Harmony has provided a sanctuary. My yogic journey goes beyond the mat – creating an inner focus and a sense of greater depth and tranquility that has allowed me to grow spiritually. As well, it has become an activity that my sister and I can enjoy together. Practicing yoga gives me the energy to end my day well and has improved my life as a whole.” Shakiba adds, “Yoga has allowed me to feel and see just how much the mind and body are really connected.”  We say, “Thank you ladies, your greatest gift is your presence.”

Kundalini Yoga for Beginners with Adrienne Hebert

Kundalini Yoga for Beginners with Adrienne HebertBased on kriyas or specially formulated sets of exercises, Kundalini Yoga shapes the body and trains the mind to be strong and flexible in the face of stress and change. It increases oxygen capacity, boosts blood flow, balances the glandular system, strengthens the nervous system, and reduces stress-induced toxins such as adrenaline and cortisol. The effect is a heightened self-awareness and vitality that allows you to harness mental and emotional energy. Individuals feel more in control of themselves, with enhanced peace of mind, concentration, and a deep inner calm and self-confidence. No matter what someone’s age or physical capacity, Kundalini  yoga and meditation can have immediate benefits.

Green Tip – 4 Fabulous Coffee and Tea Tips

#1 Avoid bleached diposable coffee filters and buy unbleached reusable filters–or spend an extra buck or two on a gold filter that you can wash and reuse everyday.

#2 Buy a couple of portable mugs, one for work or school and one for the weekends about town, so you’re never without.

#3 Staying at the coffee shop? Ask for a ceramic mug rather than getting a takeout cup.

#4 Minimize your eco-footprint by buying in bulk. Brew that oolong in organic, fair-trade loose-leaf form instead of in bags.
