MAY VIEWS 2009 – A Cause for Community
International travel alters the people who experience it. What happens then, when a group of like minded souls take on a Spiritual Journey to Peru? Well, I seriously contemplated this shortly after parting with the group, nearly three weeks ago today. And as I sat on a balcony overlooking the bustling and vibrant Pisac market in the Sacred Valley, I began to see the largest lesson of our journey together. Personally, it came during a ceremony when I clearly felt the presence of love in our circle and was reminded of the fundamental importance of such spirit of community. Throughout the trip, the energies of love and laughter were easily recognized amongst us. The random acts of kindness, respect, sharing and other signs of connection, brought our little Canadian body harmony yoga team closer together and it even enhanced the environment around us. We saw things positively and made a success of the journey, and have brought back a collective consciousness with a greater feeling of community. We very much need the spirit of community in such times, thus we look forward to connecting with everyone soon. Join us for Customer Appreciation and time together on Friday June 5th at 6:30pm, when we will share pictures, stories, music and over all good vibes. All are welcome! In the meantime, enjoy the spring and have a glorious Mother’s Day weekend with your family, friends and neighbours.
Much Love & Blessings,
PS, Thank you to all who participated in the Spring Survey 2009 and congratulations to Sarah Fischer, who won the FREE 10 Class Pass this time around!
Congratulations to Joanne Cant! Joanne celebrated a milestone birthday recently and thankfully chose to bring her great energy on our trip to Peru. A gracious travelling companion, our ‘Shimmering Butterfly’ brought with her a wonderful attitude and ease of speech for the Spanish language, making the holiday more enjoyable for the entire group. About Body Harmony, Joanne says, “I was looking for a yoga studio, a community to become a part of. Three years ago I walked through the doors of BHYS and knew this was the place that would become a big part of my life. Not only is it a beautiful space to come and stretch my body, I have also found that it is a place to let go of my mind! When I heard about the trip Lori was planning to Peru, I knew instantly that I had to find a way to go. Machu Picchu was on my list. Sometimes you don’t know why, or how, but you just have to go. So I signed up at the end of August. It was an amazing trip. We started off as a group of strangers, but within a short time we were true friends and companions. Machu Picchu was the destination, but like all great adventures in life, it turned out that it was the journey that meant the most!”

Our social book club is still alive and we are inviting you to join us for the reading of Three Cups of Tea. Tom Brokaw describes it best, “Three Cups of Tea is one of the most remarkable adventure stories of our time. Greg Mortenson’s dangerous and difficult quest to build schools in the wildest parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan is not only a thrilling read, it’s proof that one ordinary person, with the right combination of character and determination, really can change the world.” If you would like to spend time with us on Wednesday May 29th at 7:30pm, we will be sharing thoughts and maybe a glass of wine. Please email Vera Gibson to confirm attendance and request the directions to her home. Thank you Vera for hosting so we can get together on a week night!
