NOVEMBER VIEWS 2012 – Shavasana
Shavasana, sometimes seen and heard as savasana, is that important time needed for the body to rest and renew. After practice, it allows the energy to settle and absorb, instilling benefits from all the movement. This “corpse pose” is sometimes known as the death of the practice, but positively speaking, it’s a time to embrace stillness and the rebirth of a healthier self.
Like shavasana, the transition time between this studio and the next, can be seen as a pause for renewal. Body Harmony Yoga has been serving the community for 10 years, thus before moving into another 10 years of such a commitment, we would like to rejuvenate. With everything going on, it appears the universe has delivered this time of renewal! Not only is our present studio location up for redevelopment, but there may be the added gift for my family to temporarily retreat to Peru. As this latter development has yet to be confirmed, defining the exact length of the studio transition is not possible at this time.
With the amazing support of the teachers and students, any fears about the journey ahead are beginning to transform into excitement. I will enjoy this precious time with family and friends, while doing yoga either here or in South America. And certainly, I will look forward to reopening the studio with even better energy than before! Regardless of how long this transition may be, I will continue to stay connected and keep everyone up to date with quarterly emails, facebook, phone conversations and hopefully, West Coast visits.
Enjoy the last month of classes at this location and use up those passes! We now offer a $12 drop in rate so you may continue to practice right up until November 30th. On that evening, please join us for live music, food and fun at “Our Space Farewell Celebration.” Please see the newsletter below for more information, along with our special “thank you to all our lovely students.” This month, you are all our Students of the Month! May you too, be excited and see the opportunity in this transition time. You have an opportunity to organically explore different styles of yoga as well as other forms of exercise, of which can compliment your Body Harmony Yoga practice upon return.

This month, it was impossible for us to choose only one Student of the Month. As you are all near and dear to our hearts, for the month of November we would like to honour every person who has attended a class at Body Harmony.
You are special and loved. The life and energy you bring inspire us as teachers, to become more than we were before. It has been amazing to watch you grow in your practice, and to grow along side of you. It has been a privilege to hold the space for such growth.
Some of you are new to yoga, while others have been on the mat for decades. Regardless of practice time, each one of you has contributed to the community we have become. There is no way to express the amount of gratitude we have for you here at Body Harmony. You are the studio. We love you, we thank you, and we wish you all the best on this next cycle of life.
