Students of the MonthWe’re starting off this year with congratulations to two lovely and loyal students, Shakiba and Shiva Lotfi. These beautiful and well known faces at Body Harmony have been bringing light to our space for a number of years!  Shiva says, “Over the past 4 years, Body Harmony has provided a sanctuary. My yogic journey goes beyond the mat – creating an inner focus and a sense of greater depth and tranquility that has allowed me to grow spiritually. As well, it has become an activity that my sister and I can enjoy together. Practicing yoga gives me the energy to end my day well and has improved my life as a whole.” Shakiba adds, “Yoga has allowed me to feel and see just how much the mind and body are really connected.”  We say, “Thank you ladies, your greatest gift is your presence.”

Mom & Baby Yoga with Lori CharkoReturn to exercise in an environment that welcomes your baby. We practice Hatha Yoga postures and breathing exercises that can be done while bonding with your baby. You will improve your endurance, flexibility, and pelvic floor movement in a fun and safe environment. You will feel better and appreciate being in a community with other moms and babies (aged 4 weeks to 10 months). Fun stories with tea and cookies are shared after class!

Hatha Yoga for Back Care

This class emphasizes yoga postures that build support for the spine by strengthening the abdominal and back muscles, as well, involves appropriate stretching to promote balance in the torso region.  If you suffer from back pain, a stiff back, back injuries or weak back muscles OR you would like to prevent these conditions, this class is for you.  Build core strength and flexibility and lengthen the spine to create space between the vertebrae, relieve your back pain or prevent it!

Beginner Yoga From The Core with Lori Charko

If you have NEVER DONE YOGA you will learn fundamental back and abdominal conditioning exercises, appropriate positioning for sun salutations and improve your awareness of the core. If you HAVE DONE YOGA you will benefit from clarifying the detailed anatomy of the core, as well as pick up fine tuning techniques and core visualizations. The yoga postures will be taught with adjustments to work safely with the physical conditions and postures of the individual students. Maximum 10 students.

This class is a great introduction to the full session offered at Body Harmony starting Friday February 6th! Nia is a non-impact aerobic practice that incorporates elements of dance arts, martial arts and healing arts in dynamic workout activities that enliven our physical, mental and emotional selves. We move in bare feet to inspiring music, gaining awareness and sensitivity as we develop flexibility, stability, agility, mobility, endurance and strength. Nia is exhilarating, playful and sensual, yet powerful reflective and relaxing. Nia is suitable for bodies of all ages and fitness levels. Best of all, it’s FUN!
