SUMMER VIEWS 2012 – Collective Consciousness & The Power of Intention

Yoga business is an oxymoron. Like hot yoga, the two words beside one another seem to clash. Weaving a yogic and compassionate “support the community” attitude, with the logical and non-emotional “do what is best for the business” mentality, doesn’t always leave a yoga business person feeling at ease.

Trusting that there can be a balance between the two, it has been nearly 10 years of managing a studio. A place where the owner, teachers and students have become friends, and a place where the best is desired for all. With this in mind, I share the following information of which I have only recently come to terms with.

It seems inevitable that our beautiful space for connecting with ourselves and others is only months away from complete transformation. Please read this carefully. It is nearly certain that come December, the City of North Vancouver and a local developer will begin to evolve the building by first, bringing it down, and then replacing it with something entirely new. The acceptance of this comes and goes for me, but what I know for sure, is that my business is close to my heart. Thus, I’m moving through this time of transition with extreme caution.

With the utmost respect and gratitude to all who have grown with the studio and contributed to the space, once again I ask of your support. To manifest what we need to continue, I request of you some Yoga of Intention. Collectively, we need to have a vision of love and trust surrounding a new and slightly smaller space, with a lot of natural light (and parking)! Together, let’s co-create continued growth of our community with a collective consciousness of God. To draw upon the teachings of Wayne Dyer, I’m moving out of the way to see what spirit truly lives surrounding the studio. I’m letting go, and letting God.

May we see a lot of one another in the following months, so that we not only enjoy this space, but the amazing energy we have created together. We wish for everyone to feel confident with purchasing passes in this transition period, so we have changed the prices and guidelines for the Drop In, 5 Class Pass, and Monthly Unlimited Flexi Passes.

Have a lovely Canada Day weekend and glorious summer!

Blessings, Love & Light

Student of the Month

July.Aug.2012JenniferMacdonald.181218

Congratulations Jennifer MacDonald, our Student of the Summer! Jennifer is a wonderful, heartfelt friend who has left her mark at Body Harmony. She has always supported us with her membership, regardless of her attendance. In fact, there were times we attributed the sustenance of our sponsor child to this lovely woman.

When asked to speak of Body Harmony she said, “I signed up for a Valentine’s 2 for 1 special just after the studio opened and I remember that first time I walked into the studio, I loved it!! I knew it was the place for me! It was (and is) a warm and inviting space. I was looking for a place to help me mentally and wanted to learn how to meditate. With the guidance, support and patience of Lori and all the teachers, not only did I benefit mentally, but physically and that has helped me over the years.

I have been able to enjoy many weekend yoga retreats, always feeling light and rejuvenated by the end of the weekend. As well, I’ve participated in 2 fabulous trips with Lori to India and Peru. I love my yoga friends that I have met on all the retreats and trips. To be with like minded people and experiencing life changing events is huge in my world, experiences I will never forget!

Ever since I first walked onto that beautiful blue carpet my world changed. My lifestyle, health and fitness level has never been this good. The experiences I have enjoyed at the studio with the teachers has inspired me to take my teacher training (have talked about it for years!), it will happen soon! Body Harmony has helped me on so many levels, I am forever grateful!”

Another amazing way to get outside and co-create this summer is by getting involved with Community Gardens. Enjoy the weather while cultivating and sustaining fresh flowers and produce that can be shared locally. This is a great way to promote healthy eating and food sustainability with your family and friends and to grow with your community. Check out the links below to find a garden near you.
